TENSE TIMES
By: Bennet Paes

Some time back our Home Minister went on record saying: “Zero tolerance would
be
pursued in tackling terrorism, and our response to any terror attack would be
swift,
decisive, determined and strong”.

After witnessing such wanton acts of vandalism, arson, rape and murder in
various
parts of our country, practically on a daily basis, in bold defiance of the
law,
all that the politicians say is: “action will be taken according to due process
of
the law”. For all we know, after this so-called due process is complete,
culprits
are just taken in and out of custody as if for cosmetic surgeries.

Is our government so obsessed by Pakistan , that acts of terrorism committed by
Indians on our soil do not deserve swift and decisive action under zero
tolerance?
Or, are they not considered as acts of terrorism at all?

For God’s sake, let sanity be brought to bear on this rapidly deteriorating law
and
order situation in our country or else, we will soon be engulfed by the kind of
‘talibanisation’ seen across our northern border.
