Remembering Mumbai

It's been one year, since we were all stuck to our TV sets for nearly three
days, watching in awe the wickedness of an eccentric human mind, that sent
anguish, terror and fear through the minds and hearts of not just the whole
Indian Community but through the whole wide world. What unfolded right before
our eyes, one year ago is still very vivid in our minds and in our hearts and
infact it will be very difficult for us to forget this atrociously inhuman,
barbaric act, in the years to come.

The havoc created by a handful of lunatics from across the border, fumigated and
garnished by the fallacies of their ever pathetic minds, is ever so fresh and a
good many of us are yet to recover from that sordid atrocity, the magnitude of
which was never seen before on Indian soil.

The iconic structures of the business capital of our Country were attacked,
betraying the envy of our enemy, at our achievements and the strong economy that
stands tall in the midst of ruins all around it. It was indeed an attack by
thuggish bigots, filled with fallacies of their own subversive ideologies,
fostering the climate of intolerance and hatred which is increasingly permeating
from across the border.

As a wise man once said, tolerance of wrong is not tolerance; it is complicity,
for evil to succeed all that is required is, for the good to do nothing. After
one year of this sacrilegious act, where do we stand ? What have we learnt ?

It's been one year and the one responsible for that carnage is still very much
alive, ordering biryani for lunch and smiling away to glory in court, making a
mockery, of our very lax judicial and our fragile democratic system. By now this
guy should have been fried if not roasted. I know by this statement I will
arouse the sentiments of the human rights activists, may I ask, where were
they, when this particular gentleman perpetrated those same human rights of
hundreds of innocent people, when they laid siege, to the city of Mumbai, one
year ago ? What was the harm that these innocent people did to him or his
cohorts across the border ?

What infuriates me further is the attitude of the "Thackeray's", where were they
when Mumbai was burning ? It was the effort of the entire nation in unison that
saved the day for Mumbai, some non Maharashtraians lost their lives to save
Mumbai, from the hands of the perpetrators, the wounds of which are yet to heal
and before the ashes of the pyre could cool down, the divisive forces of the
Sena clan have reared it's ugly head yet again. The audacious attitude of the
Sena leaders only magnifies the spinelessness of our political leaders.

If we cannot handle and take to task the divisive elements within our very own
country, how on earth will we handle the more powerful external elements ?
India has to indeed, take bold steps to destroy the subversive and the divisive
forces within our own country first, if are to succeed in our fight against
external elements, as united India.

I salute those brave men, who fought to liberate Mumbai from the hands of the
perpetrators, some even died so that others may live, let us all, not forget the
sacrifice made by these men and let their sacrifice not be in vain.
