We have said it before (since December 6, 1992 and eight years before this
party was born) and I shall say it again, perhaps for the last time, that L
K Advani belongs to the Tihar jail for being the main conspirator to have
the Babri Masjid demolished.
And we have always thought that Justice Liberhan would come out with a sham
of a report which would go all out to absolve the actions of the top BJP
conspirators. But we have been very wrong. Justice Liberhan has shown
through his detailed report that India's justice system is above all
wheelings and dealings and he will go down in our books as the savior of the
justice system and above all the largest democracy of the world. Meer
congratulations to Justice Liberhan will never do enough justice for his
epoch judgment.
The prior leaking of the report to the press seems to be the onliest
opportunity that the floored BJP has got to save its blackened face. "Make
enough noise about it so that the attention of the people is diverted to get
people to believe that injustice has been done. The connivance of the
'Babus' in the PMO who perhaps still nurse soft corners for the BJP and its
tin pot leaders is not ruled out for this face saving leak. Perhaps it could
have been brilliantly engineered by the BJP itself through its mole in the
Congress machinery.
The ATR (Action Taken Report) is unprecedented when it goes on record to
say that no punitive action will be taken against the indicted leaders of
the BJP. If the faith of the minions in the justice system of this nation is
to be maintained and a strong signal sent out that democracy works for this
nation, there must be punitive action of some sort, at least to save the
honour of Justice Liberhan if not for anything else. Earlier, before the
tabling of the Liberhan report, we had said that if Advani believes in the
justice system of this nation at all(he having been the Union Home
Minister) and if he respected democracy, then he should accept a token term
of at least one day in jail for his complicity in the Babri demolition. Now
that the Liberhan report indicted 65 plus leaders of the BJP, unexpectedly
including Vajpayee himself, all these persons must be given a jail term for
life, commuted to at least one day in the Tihar jail to save the honour of
this up-coming nation and the largest democracy of the world. Otherwise a
very definitive wrong signal will be sent and this nation will never come
out of the communal complexion mess that it is in, especially with the
RSS -VHP-Shiv Sena and now the new entrant Sanatan Saunstha - combine.
All said and done, we still believe that Justice Liberhan has been soft on
the role played by the then PM late Shri. Narasimha Rao. If not
posthumously indicted, he should have been at least mildly castigated for
the following:
Quote Mandir banega aur bhavya mandir banega (the temple will be built and
it will be a grand one)." And as an afterthought, the PM had added: "Lekin
masjid hatana theek nahin hai (but it may not be proper to move the
mosque)."

Communalization of politics has serious consequences
for culture of governance. It is when a party fails to
provide good governance but still wants to gain or
regain power that it plays the communal card.
Communal politics is, thus, a threat both to our
spiritual heritage from the past and our well being
in the present.
