The International Centre, Goa and The American Centre, Mumbai is pleased to invite you to the Interactive Session on “Gender Based Violence Protection” with Dr. Suraiya Baluch, Board Member of Take Back the Night Foundation and American expert on gender-based violence protection on Wednesday, 2nd December 2009 at 5 pm at the International Centre, Goa - Dona Paula. There is no registration fee.
Dr. Baluch is a psychologist, educator, researcher and advocate in the field of gender-based violence prevention for over 12 years. She serves as a board member of the Take Back the Night Foundation, which has a mission of ending gender-based violence in all forms and lending support to survivors. Public awareness-raising, especially in the form of marches and rallies held both as a protest and as a support to victims, is a major aim of the Foundation and Take Back the Night movement. Dr. Baluch is also the Director of Princeton University's Sexual Harassment/Assault Advising, Resources and Education (SHARE) Office. Dr. Baluch's visit to Western India has been organized by the American Center Mumbai as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence in honor of the Elimination of Violence Against Women Day on November 25.
