The nature of the horrible tale related by Mario Goveia has very sadly lost
its novelty the world over. The Catholic Church is facing an era of
unprecedented cynicism. Catholicism which had never feared any enemy now is in
dire straits because of its own.

The criminals responsible should face the full force of the law. This is a
given. Not one of them should ever escape.

Hopefully their incarceration will be very long and very uncomfortable.
Unchristian and uncharitable sentiments, but I believe deservedly so.

In this case, if guilty and complicit, and in every other similar circumstance.

Now the act of excommunication. This powerful weapon is, I believe, only there
to ensure that a sin that the church thinks extremely serious is not continued.

If the culprits in these cases continue with their heinous crimes they should
be excommunicated.

However, if their guilt is in the past, then punish them by all means, in the
courts of the land. But they cannot be excommunicated.

However unpalatable the fact, the mercy of GOD is reserved; in these cases
unfortunately I feel, for even the worst of sinners.

That is of course, if they have repented and expressed remorse.

Sincerely

Xanno Moidecar
