Albert writes:- What is the difference between Hindus, Catholics,
Muslims,Parsis etc ? it is our belief that we are not the same that makes us
divide among ourselves. If a catholic boy falls in love with a non catholic
girl he will have to climb the Himalayas before he will be allowed to get
married and so he prefers to run away with her and get married somewhere. There
will be wailing and weeping from both sides each party cursing the other. Some
of them may hire motorcars and follow them not to give blessings but to try and
bring them back. Many times this procedure ended in death of either one or
both- suicide. What is important for the parents to see is that the status of
both is nearly the same so that there is no problem later on. Many times it is
caste that comes in the way. Parents do not understand that a boy and a girl
intending to marry has to live together and not the parents. Why force your
opinion on them and make them unhappy? I know a hindu brahmin girl of the older
generation wanted to marry a non Brahmin boy from the neighbourhood but the
parents in order to prevent any calamity hurriedly got a brahmin boy from far
away and got a eighteen year girl married to thirty old man who did not have a
proper job and house to live and with the result till today the family is
living a very poor misserable hard life .Each time this lady visits her
mother's house finds the person who wanted to marry her years is living in
prosperity . This lady's parents are no more. Neither our caste, nor our
religion is helping anyone of us in our needs.
