The elected panchs of Cansaulim have given the go ahead to the Builders to proceed with their mega project ( ground + 4 with swimming pools and the works for a gated community ) near the Cosme Damiao chapel and behind the Cansaulim Sports ground. It seems that a Mr. Diniz from the Town & Country Planning department fraudulently approved and sent the plans back to the Village Panchayat for their approval.
This despite the fact that the villagers had raised at least 10 technical flaws in the plans and explained why the plans should not be approved. They had requested that the NOC not be awarded because of numerous reasons including fradulent representation of the facts in the submitted plans. One of the ruling party members who had earlier stated that she would not defect, crossed the floor and supported the Opposition's resolution despite the Sarpanch declaring that there was no sanad in the file for converting the orchard land into a settlement zone. The VP has now allowed the builder to produce the sanad before commencing the work. Our villages are being destroyed because of the vested interests of some members of the Village panchayat, builders and politicians who are busy lining their pockets at the expense of the villagers.This is the story of all our villages thanks to our corrupt politicians and their supporters in the Town & Country Planning Department and the Vilage Panchayats. We need to rally by the citizens who are resisting these projects and give them our support so that Goa's villages are not destroyed because of the greed of a few. The Council for Social Justice and Peace and the Xettkarancho Ekvott is asking the villagers of Cansaulim as well as other Goans to step in and support them in resisting these anti-Goa projects. Write in to suggest your support and ideas in opposing these mega projects - we need the support of Goans everywhere to make their voices heard and help lobby to stop what is happening to Goa.
