I was one of the victims of this blockade and it was total and absolute. My HC hearing got over in a jiffy at 1145 hrs and since I had to rush home to take my 87 year old mother for X-ray of the possible wrist fracture resulting from a fall last night, I made it to the Santa Monica U turn to get on the old Nehru Bridge. When I saw a pile-up of cars inching away, I reversed and headed for the new bridge. The same things. A friendly traffic cop advised me to take the ferry as according to him the blockade was total and it would take hours to clear. I rushed to the ferry point and was foolish enough to get my car inside the ferry jetty. The whole thing got clogged in no time and the ferry that had arrived could neither unload nor load their payloads. Luckily I got pushed out from there and ended up in the serpentine line-up until 2 p.m. to start where I had left earlier. It was 3 p.m. when I landed home via Penha de France.

Somebody said the blockade was organized by the BJP to protest price rise. I hated it. Now I know better and I love it, for, I have always preached against morchas, darnas, etc. peaceful or otherwise because I believe that the general public should not be inconvenienced and paralyzed for some political or other ideals. I have always said that the way to do things is to paralyze the concerned departments, government or otherwise by filling them up by walking in two's and three's unannounced, without placards etc and make the office impossible to function. Blockading the Legislative Assembly is a super idea and it goes well with my preaching. Well done, whoever has done the planning.

Cheers

Subject: [Goanet] learn from the Tribals of Goa.

Just around 2000 Tribal Association members of Goa have demonstrated how Government policy can be influenced. They blocked both the bridges and the entrance of the Legislative Assembly for solid 4 hours and no one had the guts to take them on. They got what they wanted.
