Here's yet another example of how the Cortalim MLA and his cronies are even ready to destroy the village of Cansaulim and the Remedios Mount. This letter from Joel Jacques appeared in the Herald Dec 22nd.
22nd December 2009 The Editor The Herald Panjim Goa Please publish the following letter in your daily edition letter to the editor Our Lady of Remedios chapel Cuelim development Govt Interference a Bane It was interesting to read in your daily today about the developmental works being imposed by the Cortalim MLA on the simple honest people of Cortalim constitueny. The MLA is on a self glorification trip and trying to inflate his ego and fill his pockets by way of kickbacks and is working over time on planning and executing projects uncalled for and based on illegalities and frauds. We Cansaulkars are not suckers but are mature and wise thinkers. The MLA should be asked to lay off Cansaulim and his interference in church matters and church property especially his work at the Chapel of Our Lady of Remedios is highly objectionable the Church authorities have to draw a line and protect its interests and the Goan laity. Give him a inch and he will take a yard. These cunning politicians should not be given a toehold in church matters we warn you all it will be the biggest folly to befall Goa Future generations will not forgive us and the eforts of our hardworking ancestors will all be in vain for they loved Goa and bequeated it to us. The Goverment of Goa has no legal right to interfere and poke fingers into what is private property and sacred to the Roman catholic church at Our lady of Remedios chapel. The attorney of the Our Lady of Remedios chapel Mr Bailon Gomes and the commitee have been immamture and inexperienced so as to open the doors what is private and sacred to us Cansaulkars to these wolves in sheep clothing. This stinks and is unbearable The church will find its self totally emptied by these bullies and their cronies and history will be repeated all over this beloved land of ours. Lay off Cansaulim . Save our heritage. Yours faithfully Joel Jaccques
