Many thanks to Venantius Pinto and Frederick Noronha for their quick response to my query about a book on herpetology. Their suggestions were important and I shall follow them when a friend of mine who is at present in Goawill return to Portugal. Changing now the subject, I would like to inform our Goanetters, with due permission of the Moderator, that I write a Page of my own on the Internet, entitled ‘Artes e Letras’. My posts are mostly in Portuguese and are relevant to our dear Goa. You’ll find also posts written in English. From these I would single out an abstract dealing with the true Goan Patriot, Mariano Conceição da Rocha, who is my ancestor. His small biographical note is linked to a Genealogy of my Family, duely researched, that one may read on that Page. I am convinced that Goannetters, who are mostly young generations , ignore much of Goan History of the Portuguese colonial time. Some historical facts were actually hushed up during the time of dictator Salazar., because they tarnished the Portuguese image. It is with this intention that I give the above information.
