(excerpt)

Periodically, the aristocratic generals (safely lodged in the rear) ordered
the mostly lower-class men in the trenches to make suicidal frontal assaults
on enemy trenches. Machine guns and rapid fire rifles simply mowed down
attacking men in no man's land, where their bodies often remained for weeks
in a decaying state. The generals never devised a sensible plan to break the
cruel stalemate that trench warfare became.

Gloss-not Glossary (not your mothers glasnost [forthrightness]):
periodically = when pigs dash through the chapel
aristocratic generals = Bamte/ barrao's (barrons of schmooze [folgan]),
patricians drinking water through their nostrils, silk stocking, a cuckold
safely lodged in the rear = we are right behind you
suicidal frontal assaults = eating of ones own, not supporting ones own, but
expecting unstinting loyalty(why? because you must pay your dues)
rapid fire = talking out of ones arse
no man's land = whose father what goes
never devised a sensible plan = inbreeding, lack of gnyan/ginyan,
shenanigans
cruel stalemate = never agreeing on any baseline truth, stains on the wall
trench warfare=hammering out the same issues, with a preponderance towards a
few pithy adjectives, the issue of Konkani in Goa, etc.
