Or 'KP', it is what a soldier collects  if  his sergeant takes a dislike to him.
I suspect our social norms call for young male children to be kept out of the
kitchen: declasse, and what would the neighours think !
I believe a twelve year old ought to be asked to knead dough,  and fix his own
chappatis at fourteen.  My mother had no problem with once hiring an eleven
year old orphan to toil in her kitchen, his mother collected twelve rupees a
month.
Chappatis beat bread on taste, and God did not design grain husk for hog trough
mash. Durum wheat entered Iberia and the West from Morocco. It's flour soaks up
water like a sponge, leaving your hands remarkably dry and 'ungooey.'  The
kneading, inflicted on me before sunrise by a female dictator, can be seen as a
daily shot of an 'anaerobic' workout !
I have found cookbooks by these authors very useful:  Sudha Amonkar, Beryl
Viera Coutiho, Edna Ferandes, Maria Menezes, Kumudini Usgaocar - whose book is
a real tome ,  and Berta Pereira.
   De Gustibus.    eric.
