Happy New Year Twenty-Ten

Dear all
Thanks to all who attended the GEMAI (Goans, East Indians, Mangaloreans, Anglo
Indians) New Year's eve dance in the San Francisco Bay Area. A Happy New Year
and all the best in 2010.
The event was a great success. Thanks to each and everyone of you who supported
the event with enthusiasm and cheerful good spirits. It was a lot of fun
getting together the GEMAI communities for the first time ever and we hope to
continue this relationship with future events.
We are thankful to Mehran for hosting the event with net proceeds to benefit
Goa Sudharop and Spoorthi. Approximately $1,000 plus raffle proceeds was raised
for Spoorthi (www.spoorthi.org). Approximately $1,400 was raised for Goa
Sudharop (www.goasudharop.org) and in addition, a $3,000 donation was received
by Goa Sudharop for Youth with Aids in Goa.
Special thanks to Malcolm and Elaine D'Sa for all the coordination and great
music, Jennie Castellino for setting up the decorations, Anslim Soares for
providing beverages, Acaria Almeida for managing the event, and Stephen
Coutts-emcee for the night.
