Just saw some stamps commemorating 450 years of Esatdo da India Portuguesa
(1505 - 1955) on another Goan site.
Curious to note that one of the stamps had a map of Mumbai as drawn by P. B. de
Resende, in 1635 - the name of the town appears as "MUMBAIM", which leads
credence to renaming Bombay to Mumbai. And some, if not most of us on GoaNet,
and indeed, Wikipedeia, thought that the Portuguese had named that port BOMBAIM
(Bom baim) ...
