I think this is a very wise decision taken by the govt. as we Mumbaikars are
being taken for a ride by the taxi and automen in Mumbai.

I returned from Goa on the 19th. January at 11 .30pm .I took a rickshaw from
Santa Cruz station to my residence. The fare normally is around Rs. 11.00
during peak traffic hours ,bu t the rickshaw showed Rs.18.00 at night. I told
the rickshaw driver that the meter was faulty and that I would pay only Rs.
11.00 as fare. He initially argued that the meter was fine and that was the
fare. I threatened to take him to the police station to verify the meter . He
immediately agreed to take whatever I would give him.

How about the customers/ Passengers who do not know the fares ??? Aren't they
forced to pay whatever the meter shows?? What action is the RTO taking against
those whose 90% of the meters that are faulty in Mumbai , specially the night
travellers ?????

THE AUTO DRIVER WAS FROM U.P . SINCE IT WAS LATE NIGHT AND I WAS TIRED I HAD
NOT TAKEN THE AUTO NO.
