The Mapusa Nagrikancho Ekvott has moved in to identify the heritage structures in Mapusa. A lenghty Memorandum has been given the the Chairperson and several interactions held with the MMC. GICA sewerage system for Mapusa has been demanded and is on the cards, only held up with the CM holding the file.
The Mapusa ODP has has been challenged.
The Mapusa Island (near Tarir) is sought to be put on the heritage map for marine life, avian life, preservation which is also the home of phythons and crocodiles. A people's/children park has been demanded around the Mapusa river as a green lung for the city. The Bus depot demanded to to shifted near/opp Bodgueswarini Temple. and a exhibition ground demanded for Mapusa where fairs, meetings circuses, tiarts, Nataks etc can be held. A permanent fast food court has been demanded along the river outline and near the Park with all fast food outlets housed in one place.

Only thing is the people of Mapusa are lethargic about their wants.
A few persons who are motivated must run like blue ass flies all the time to chase things, leaving their busy schedule to dogs.

Things must change if our posterity need to see good things in life.

An observer from the outside.

Regarding this idea that Mapusa needs development, nothing could be more
timely! The town is turning into an urban disaster!

I had always believed that Mapusa was in fact a dump, but after a few visits there recently have begun to realise that the old town of Mapusa (or what is
left of it) is in fact rather pretty and preserved, renovated and marketed
could operate as another node for city based heritage tourism, as Fontainhas
has recently become for Panjim.

More and more older houses in Mapuca's old town and its once elite locality Altinho are being pulled down to erect anonymous concrete buildings...what I
cannot figure out is why, in the presence of such a beautiful urban heart,
there is no heritage movement in Mapusa yet!

As an example, the buildings of the Administration of the Communidades of
Bardez and the building that once housed St. Annes (if I am not
mistaken)opposite the Court, if renovated would just make the city sparkle!

or what about Dattawadi and the area below it!

pity pity pity!
