A Goanetter sent me a couple of notes. Here they are; excerpted: +++++++++++++++++++++ (note 1) Just saw your post on Goanet "Gazing at the skies". I am not sure if you know that there is an observatory (somewhat basic, though) located on the top of Panjim's Junta House and run by The Association of Friends of Astronomy, Goa. My knowledge of astronomy is also very basic, but I have been quite fascinated on my few visits there. The enthusiasm of the AFA members and the regular activities they carry out is just amazing. They also have a very active Astro Kids Club for younger members.
There is also another observatory at Margao, though I have not visited that one. +++++++++++++++++++++ (note 2) If you have the time during your next visit, you must visit meet some of the Association of Friends of Astronomy (AFA) members, most of all the person who helped start it, Mr. Percival Noronha. Now aged around 87 years and a great historian as well, he is still very active and a great inspiration to us all. +++++++++++++++++++++ Thank you. venantius j pinto On Sun, Jan 24, 2010 at 3:08 AM, Venantius J Pinto < [email protected]> wrote: > Today, I had the opportunity to peer through five telescopes (there were > eight in all, I think) at the skies, in a park at 207 Street.
