Sleuths raid corrupt peon
Congratulations to the anti corruption authorities for the raid on Sub-Registrar's office in Panjim, no doubt the action has been late in coming but none the less late but better than never. The peons in most Government office like the Panchayat secretaries are the keys to corruption, hope this is not the end and more raids should be conducted in all government offices, this will just be a minor step towards revamping our lackluster system. At first the raid being the headline news on the front pages of the news papers in Goa, I thought that some bomb making material was discovered at the site, by when I read the article it hit me right between the eyes. There is a saying "an ant is stopped while an elephant is allowed to pass" that's exactly what's happened ? A poor peon has been made the scrape goat and for what, a few thousand bucks ? That's the apathy of our corrupt system If the anti corruption authorities mean business and have the guts, they should raid the houses and establishments of our corrupt Goan politicians and I am sure they will encounter logistic complexities in recording the enormous wealth that's hoarded by them. A mere peon here and a mere peon there will be of some help, but not the end in any way, termination of corruption is only possible if the elite politicians are put on the mat, and the immediate duty of the anti corruption authorities should not only be to nail the small fry but priority should be given in netting the big fishes as well.
