Venantius, Devanagari typing has been around for ages -- remember all those typewriters in government offices (even though there have been some two or three or more different standards in use, unlike English's standardised QWERTY keyboards with their Remington and other influences.)
The surprising point here is that Devanagari typing in Konkani took so long to get popularised on computers in Goa, despite this being the official language here. Of course, Marathi has done far better, and there are even people writing blogs in Marathi today. But then, Maharashtra is a far bigger market, language pool, etc. The lack of standards, and the inability of the governments to settle for something uniform is probably part of the problem. There are many links to Devanagari typing otherwise.
