Hi Shrikant, Good to hear this too. I began studying the script by myself, but good to have a contact. My brother has found someone willing to teach me, someplace in Thane. Perhaps Lawate gives classes etc. Can you read/write in Modi. I fee; there are tremendous calligraphic opportunities in its study.
I remember Charles Borges, S.J. mentioning that the Mhamai collection which is in Modi being at the XCHR. A most gracious act and example of clear thinking by the family to house them at the XCHR. http://www.goajesuits.in/xchr/library.htm http://www.e-corpus.org/eng/notices/72983-archives.html The Mhamais of Goa as posted by Teotonio R. de Souza: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teotonio_R_de_Souza A interesting piece by Teotonio R. de Souza: http://www.lusotopie.sciencespobordeaux.fr/souza97.pdf Charles Borges, S.J.: https://loyola.edu/academics/history/faculty/borges.html On account of my limited historical knowledge, I am unable to provide further links at this point. venantius j pinto > From: SHRIKANT BARVE <[email protected]> > To: [email protected], goanet <[email protected]> > Subject: [Goanet] Modi lipi classes > > Modi Lipi Prashikshan , > In BISM Frm 1 Feb > 2010 , to 20 Feb.2010 eve. 6.30 to 7.30 > Contact Mandar Lawate > 98230-79087 > http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=203175528963&ref=ts > Most of our record are in Modi or Farsii. > > May be Goan historical records are also in modi... > > Contact Mandar Lawate > 98230-79087 > Shrikant Vinayak Barve > > Shrikant Vinayak Barve > Convener: We Love Ayurved > 9403997973 >
