why all the Goan
politicians, driving top of the line Mercedes Benzs, BMWs and Hummers and 
owning multi-crore
empires, never get raided! :-)

I-T raids at IAS couple's residence in Bhopal

BHOPAL: Rs 3.1 crore in cash, jewellery and documents of properties 
disproportionate to their known sources of 
income were recovered from an IAS couple - Arvind Joshi and Tinu Joshi - 
following an income tax raid at their official residence in posh 74-Bungalows 
area here.
While Arvind Joshi is Principal Secretary (Jail) his wife Tinu is Principal 
Secretary (Women and Child Development).
The raid is still going on at Joshi's place and also at 12 other places 
including the residence of retired IAS officer 
M A Khan and two engineers, ICICI Prudential Insurance company officials, 
agents and a few businessmen, Income Tax (I-T) 
sources said today.
The I-T Department had to take help of currency counting machines for counting 
the cash recovered from various places, sources said.
Besides Bhopal, the raids were also conducted at the residence of IAS officer B 
L Agrawal in Raipur and his various relatives and persons 
associated with him.
The exact amount of cash, jewellery and properties will be known after the 
scrutiny of documents seized from various places and opening 
of bank lockers, sources said.
The raids were a fallout of similar exercise conducted by the department 
earlier during which it came to know about the disproportionate 
income of these officials.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan told reporters 
today that he has asked the I-T department to provide 
details of raid conducted at the residence of Joshis for initiating action
