The "Supermarkets"  I go to never seem to have small change, and invariably
give me some
Maggi soup cubes instead.  Other Mom and Pop stores promise to give me the
change
tomorrow, or if I owe them a rupee or two, tell me to give it to them the next
time I stop by.
The "Paise" coins have long disappeared.  I guess in time, so will the One
Rupee, and the
smallest denomination will be the Five Rupee coin ??  I read somewhere that the
value of the metal used to make coins exceeds the face value of the coin, and
some factories find it
cheaper to use the metal from coins in manufacturing items, rather than buying
the metal
that they need.  Sign of the times !!!   Even smaller notes like Ten Rupees
seem to be in
short supply.
