I am currently reading the first volume of "The Baker History of the
Church".   The first volume published recently (in 2004) is authored by Ivor J.
Davidson. It covers "The Birth of the Church" from 30 AD to 312 AD.  This
subject has been on interest to some goanetters.

As expected the first few chapters refers to the work of the Apostles, Paul and
their helpers.  I have yet to get to the post-apostle period.

There is an extensive writing about the women surrounding Christ and his
ministry to women - the widows, sinners and ethnic outsiders. Yet, there was
only one mention of Mary Magdalene or the stuff one may read in Dan Brown's
novel.

Regards, GL
