The ABU DHABI GOANS, in association with BIN AL MAS Advertising,
celebrated the festive gala of the CARNIVAL with smashing success. In
its third year in succession, VIVA CARNIVAL – VALENTINE’S DANCE FEVER
2010 was celebrated with much pomp and splendor. The event was hosted on
Thursday February 11, at Hotel Crowne Plaza, Abu Dhabi, with more than
200 guests in attendance.
Keeping with the theme of the night, the guests were dressed in their
best finery in the colours of Red and Black. The Ballroom was decorated
by a well renowned Goan decorator, Mr. Hilary and his team. While yards
of Red and Black scalloped Curtains embellished the Ballroom, the dance
floor was covered with arches made with more than 1500 Red and Black
Balloons, which gave the event its festive ambience.
The crowd welcomed the Carnival Float with a lot of thrill and
excitement. King Momo entered the hall with great gusto and led his
entourage while dancing, singing and greeting all the guests. He was
cheered on by his troupe and his followers with party poppers, pom poms
and shrilling sound makers. King Momo opened the Carnival celebrations
and thanked all the people for their support and enthusiasm. He wished
the crowd Good Health and Happiness and peace in their hearts always.
SENSATIONS, a local band, made their debut at the event. The members
included Edlin Amorin, Francis Gonsalves, Dominic Mendes, Yelston
Fernandes, Reynold Franco, Christofer Cota Cruz and Assis Gonsalves, who
played an assortment of music which kept the crowd on the dance floor
through the night. A young, budding singer Yashlyn Fernandes and
popular Goan singer John F supported the Band rendering ‘SWEET MELODIES’
of old Goan songs. DJ Yelston and DJ Julz thrilled the crowd with their
non-stop Rock and Roll English and Hindi music.
The Master of ceremonies for the evening was the well renowned compere,
Joaquim D’souza. He welcomed the guests and kept them entertained,
handing out lots of gifts as spot prizes and lucky draws. Novelty prizes
were also given out to the lucky ones with prized gifts and masks. The
jive competition saw all the dancers burning the dance floor with the
best jiving couple dancing out with a Sony Bravia television. The Fancy
Dress competition also saw the tots parading in colourful, creative
costumes and the best received a Gold coin.

The organizers of VIVA CARNIVAL – VALENTINES DANCE FEVER 2010, John
Fernandes, Joaquim D’souza and Jamesperry Rodrigues thanked each and
every person involved, in making the event such a smashing success.
