India started off on a high note in the Commonwealth Shooting Championship
with Gagan Narang and PT Raghunath winning the gold medal for the country on
the first day of the Championship at the Dr Karni Singh shooting range on
Friday.

They won gold in the 10m Air Rifle pairs with the scores of 599 (Narang) and
594 (Raghunath) respectively.

National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) named a 43-member Indian squad for
the eighth edition of the Championship, which will see top shooters from 12
nations vie for honours.

Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra will miss the 11 day event as he had been
ruled out of the Championship for not attending the trials.
