The real issue is not "cloth versus coffin" but that there is no longer a Sacrament of Extreme Unction which prepared the soul for the next world. It was abolished in 1971. The Annointing of the Sick is ambiguous, quite apart from the fact that the "oil" is dubious on several counts, one being that it is no longer exorcised. The old form clearly indicated that "The Lord is forgiving sins by this annointing." The new form mentions "when you have been feed from your sins," which could mean sometime in the future, ref: http://www.mostholyfamilymonastery.com/12_othersacraments.pdf

When Paul VI signed the Dogmatic Constitution of the Church, or Lumen Gentium, 24/11/1964, he instituted a New Universalist Church as a level playing field for all religions. Thereafter (1) in October 1965 he ceremonially handed over the Instruments of the Papacy in New York to U Thant, UN Secretary General, and (2) proceeded to revise all the sacramental rites, starting with the rites of ordination, to meet the doctrines of the New Church. The 1968 rites of ordination no longer seem to meet the Church's own requirements for validity. Seminary formation has also been drastically revised. What is now called "The Catholic Church" is no longer the Church founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ but a man-made church which bears little or no resemblance to it. The implications of this grave change needs to be studied and grasped first before playing around with cloth or coffin.
