STRAIGHT TO THE……
In a trial, a prosecuting attorney (Adv. Moraies) called his first witness, an
elderly grandmother (Maria Magdalena Menezes) into the witness box. He
approached her and asked:-
Adv. Moraies: Mrs. Menezes, do you know me?
Mrs. Menezes: Yes, I do know you. Mr. Moraies, I have known you since you were
a young boy, you was a big disappointment to me. You think you are a big shot,
you lie, cheat on your wife, manipulate people and talk about them behind their
backs.
Adv. Moraies was stunned! Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the
room and asked:
Adv. Moraies: Mrs. Menezes, do you know the defense attorney
Mrs. Menezes: Oh yes, I do. I have known Mr. Miranda since he was a youngster.
He is lazy, bigoted, and has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal
relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the worst in the state.
Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women, one of them
was your wife (Meguelina Moraies).
The defense attorney Adv. Moraies almost died.
The judge (Antonio Almeida) asked both lawyers (Adv. Moraies and Adv. Miranda)
to approach the bench and in a quiet voice said:
Antonio Almeida: If either of you rascals asks her if she knows me, then I'll
send you straight to the electric chair.
