Expats Football Federation's Asian Football League - Season One Commences in Style

The much awaited Expats Football Federation League matches were launched with much fanfare and excitement at the grass grounds special courtesy of Shuwaikh Fire Station. A brief introductory ceremony with Julio Cardozo emceeing the show and presenting the Expats Football Federation officials Milton Lord and Manuel D’Costa, together with the representatives of the sponsors including CDS Soccer Inc Sports Management Co., Al-Mailem Tires, Agility Logistics and Suheb International in the midst of a large crowd of spectators, team managers, supporters and football lovers.

A ceremonial flag display and national anthems of the participating teams’ nations as well as the host country were played and balloons released to mark the opening of the league tournament. The three matches played had everyone glued to the field and had a equal enthusiasm of cheering supporters for their home teams, including children of all ages and families.

The ensuing matches were played as follows: Goa Boys vs Lankan United - Goa Boys play a very exciting game against the Lankan’s United, Francisco at the 1st 10min of the 1st half get a penalty due a to handball from the Lankan’s and scores his 1st goal in, While Anthony Joseph Scores his 2nd goal, and Pobres Fernandes tackles a Lankan players and get the 1st yellow card of the game, Minguel shoots a amazing goal and put Goa at 3 and Lankan at 0, Anthony Joseph is still not satisfied and scores his 2nd which again puts Goa at 4 and Lankan at 0. Lankan United had a good game without any cards been used by the referee’s but had a hard game with the Goans winning their inaugural match by 4 goals to nil.

Before commencing the second match, the organizers cut in the ceremonial cake from Ceasar’s Confectionary and served with refreshments to the spectators. The second match was between Rangers FC vs Kuwait Bangladesh Challengers played a very hard and goalless game for the first 15 minutes, but soon Hemant, the Striker of Rangers shot the first goal at a blast, while Abdullah, the right wing striker scores the second goal. The Kuwait Bangladesh Challengers tried their best to go past the defense of Rangers to score which proved futile Chessle made his way to the D area and scored the 3rd goal for Rangers. Bilal was shown the yellow card for a wrong tackle on the Kuwait Bangladesh Challengers, Jayan substituted during the second half, and within 5 minutes on the field he scores the final goal for the Rangers. Challengers had a hard timing against Rangers, the Final Score of the game was Rangers FC at 4 vs Kuwait Bangladesh Challengers at nil. The third match of the evening was between Nepal vs Bangladesh Football Club who displayed skillful pressure on each other showing both sides line up was equally strong and determined. Sumon of Bangladesh received a yellow card, and Bilal from Bangladesh broke the ice and scored Bangladesh’s 1st goal. Kali of Nepal converted a penalty shoot and equaled the score.

The EFFK’s Asian Football League - Season One continues at the Shuwaikh Fire Station Ground continues which has drawn teams from vibrant communities from India, Napal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Bangladesh. The matches are played on Grass Grounds & Under Flood Lights and the Participating teams are: Rangers FC (organizers), Nepal, Thailand, Bangladesh Challengers, Bangladesh Football Team, Lankan United, Goa Boys, Game Breakerz, Churchill India, and Skynet Raiders. All matches are officiated by Indian Football Referees Association (IFRA).

The Liberation Day (Friday) matches will commence sharp at 5:00 p.m. between Kuwait Bangladesh Challengers v/s Skynet Raiders, to be followed by the next encounter between Churchill India v/s Goa Boys at 6:00 p.m. and Game Breakers v/s Thailand at 7:00 p.m. All participating team members are to report in time for the matches.
