-- Samir Umarye BICHOLIM MARCH 5: A group of 21 youngsters were injured when a goods carrier rickshaw which they were travelling in turned on to its side at Sarvan in Bicholim while proceeding to celebrate the shigmo festival. According to the police, the rickshaw was carrying 21 passenegers.
The police also said that the mishap occurred as rickshaw driver Vinod Narvekar failed to negotiate a sharp turn as passengers were cramped inside the vehicle, along with musical instruments used during the festivities. The police are also trying to ascertain how 21 persons were traveling by the rickshaw, thus flouting traffic rules. According to the police, Narvekar, from Kudapwada Karapur, was also injured. All the injured were shifted to the primary health centre at Sanquelim. Presently, nine of the injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College and hospital at Bambolim, while four of them are admitted to the PHC, Sanquelim.
