Hartman:
Such crude exploitation in the "interest" of a few rich individuals is taking place world wide despite all the talk by the UN and the big powers about environment . climate change human rights. The fact of the matter is that in certain respects we are going back to a new age of open greed.

My family home is in Quepem, I have some idea of what you are talking .... My parents bought a bit of property about 6o years ago ,,,, walking through the woods and reaching the top of the hill and watching the hues of green all around I wish I could leave it idylic. Here in Tanzania I am wrestling about what i can do to halt this greed and daylight robbery. currently. about to take place in a World Heritage Site. But have courage sometimes you will be surprised how help may come. The best luck.

In remembrance of water -- March 2010
By: Hartman de Souza

Where there is water, there is probably ore beneath.

Having trekked several times to Paikdev's spring to
gulp water pouring out of the moss-covered iron
mouth, one would think the mysteries of the journey
would fade. But, if anything, they have become more
poignant -- sitting here at this shrine to the
snake deity of the Velip community in the village
of Maina, in Goa's Quepem District.
