Successfully jettisoned his public career?
What bumkum!
Most who believe in one God or the other and who are nurturing their public careers, require GOD to take them forward -- meaning establish vote banks. All they have to do is to stand in the to receive Holy Communion at Mass, or wear the red smear on the forhead and be clanging the temple bells or prostrate themselves 4 to 5 times a day in the namaaz services. These are the worst hypocrites, never to be trusted.

I do hope Oscar chooses the public career in addition to his medical profession. He will do absolutely well.

Subject: [Goanet] Dr. Oscar Rebello's question to God

your comment that his act to say that he is an atheist is "courageous" speaks not of his courage, belated and late in life that it may have been revealed, but of the communal tolerance of those in his community.

Dear Mr Fernandes,
I respect you for your belief in God. Please don't shame others for their own beliefs.

Not believing in God, in itself is act of courage. It puts the onus of responsibility squarely on man's shoulders. It is arrived at through a great deal of introspection rather than indoctrination. To admit it openly is a tremendous act of courage. I think with this admission he has successfully jettisoned his public career but as he has said several times, he has no political aspirations. I certainly wish he did.

Best,
selma
