Dear Floriano,
That is exactly what I am saying. By admitting he is an atheist, he is has
alienated himself from the Catholic vote bank.

I do hope Oscar embarks on a political career but I see little chance of
success for a man like him. For Catholics to win elections they have to be
Churchill, Monseratte and Micky.

Political change in society comes when society itself changes, not the other
way round. Perhaps I'm just feeling unduly pessimistic today but we have failed
desperately to create grass-root change in our society. Infact, we have
regressed. Our education system has failed us completely. We go to colleges but
we remain the same. There is no introspection. There is no interest in anything
other than the mundane. There is no principle. There is only the immediacy of
survival. The immediacy of the next visa out of Goa, the next Honda city car,
the next purchase of a flat, the next budday party and the next wedding.

Some times when I'm at a budday party, I get the uncontrollable urge to throw
the cake on everyone's face.

Best,
selma
