Selma, I do not think there is anything courageous in declaring oneself atheist. In today's world. It has in fact become fashionable to do so. A person does not become a better person by becoming an atheist. It is qualities of head and heart that makes one a good human being and not any ism's or religiosity. History is replete of persons who professed great religiosity or atheism who wrought monstrosities. Examples are Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Mugabe, Idi Amin. George Bush II a born again caused tremendous bloodshed and misery in Iraq. Elections are not won by practicing religion but more by exploiting religious sentiments.
