Konkan Kogul Wilfy Rebimbus passes away- Funeral March 11

Mangalore, March 9, 2010: Mangalore's very own, Wilfy Gerald Rebimbus passed away to his heavenly abode at 11:15 am at the Fr. Muller's Hospital, Kankanady, Mangalore. His demise leaves an irreplaceable void in the Mangalorean community and the Konkani Cultural Community at large. Known as the Konkan Kogul of Mangalore, Wilfy Rebimbus’s contribution to Konkani music was immeasurable.

Born on April 2nd 1942 in Mangalore, to late Landeline Rebimbus and late Magdeline Mendonca, Wilfy dedicated all his life to music. A highly talented composer and singer, in a career spanning about 4 decades, Wilfy has written thousands of songs and staged more than 245 'Wilfy Nights'and released 40 albums, 6 Devotional Albums and 1 Instrumental album.

Wilfy Rebimbus also has the distinction of having performed live shows all over India, the Gulf countries and Canada. All his shows have been tremendously successful and have served to bring all Konkani speaking people together through the mellifluous language of music. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Meena Rebimbus, Son/Daughter in law, Vishwas and Charlene Rebimbus, Daugher/Son-in-law Veena and Arthur Pais, And grandchildren Arvin and Anna.

Wilfy’s mortal remains will be kept for viewing at St. Joseph’s Seminary Jeppu between 2pm and 4 pm on Thursday 11 March 2010 and Requiem mass at 4 pm followed by burial at Jeppu Cemetery.
