Marshall, I am glad you agree that there is a vote bank politics played in 
cases such
as the Shah Bano affair and the Tasleema affair. I find it very glaring that 
while everyone
rushes to Hussein's defense, not one of the so-called secular fighters came in 
defense
of Tasleema when she was hounded.

After all, free speech was equally, if not more, at stake in the Tasleema case. 
This
certainly makes one wonder about the motives of the so called secular brigade, 
and
their commitment to issues such as free speech.
