The government is required to have what one calls 'balls' to stop this nonsense.

How can the government have the above when it's ministries are not ministries but gifts to do what the concerned ministers want to do? And have they not been lobbying hard to cut out the interference by the government into their own kingdoms?

There has to be POLITICAL SANITY governing any government of the day.
In Goa this has been missing, except for a brief spell of President's rule with Governor J F R Jacob ( 19 April 1998 - 26 Nov 1999) Goa needs JFR Jacob as the governor for a full term of 5 years. Only then Goa will be GOA once again to see the rule of law walking the roads, streets and highways by day and by night, just as was experienced during the erstwhile and much hated Portuguese regime.
Or
The alternative is for the sensible PEOPLE of Goa ( if there are any left after this run of unabate'able corruption) to take law into their own hands ( and why not? the custodians of law i.e. the police and the politicians are hand in gloves with the drug mafia, the tourist taxi mafia et al) and go about establishing a state of PPS to PPS GOA. And simultaneously put the Goa Su-Raj Road Map for Goa must go on the billboards from Pernem to Canacona for its implementation.

It is not ENOUGH that GOOD n HONEST persons contest elections.
It is not ENOUGH that GOOD n HONEST voters elect good n honest persons.
GOA urgently needs 'HONEST SYSTEM of GOVERNANCE'.
Wherein, even a dishonest person is forced to be honest or to QUIT.

Only through PPS can such 'honest system of governance' be identified and accepted.

PPS=PEOPLE for POLITICAL SANITY = PEOPLE'S POWER SYSTEM
Be bold. Display the 'PPS' sticker on your vehicle today, to reject political madness tomorrow. [Note: PPS stickers are available at CHAMPS Sports Shops - Mapusa-Panjim-Margao]

Tourist Taxi Operators are a militant lot

> Because of numerous complaints of fleecing government tried to introduce
meter system, tourist taxi operators vehemently opposed this move of the government because their profits would drastically drop. Infact, two members of a Royal Family from the Emirates were staying in a star hotel in Cavelossim. They had to pay whooping Rs. 19,000 to travel to Panjim and back to watch a film, such is the height of fleecing that these tourist taxi operators adopt.

Secondly as per their tourist taxi permit they are not allowed to park their vehicles anywhere near the vicinity of the hotels and have to operate from home. With the exception of one operator, thousands of tourist taxi operators violate this clause and lay siege to the entrance of each and every star hotel in south Goa. They have gone to the extent of demanding that the hotels build premises for them at the entrances. Now the tourist taxi operators have upped their ante against the government’s latest move to phase out 800 cc vehicles. At the same time they cry that they cannot pay their installments. If the situation is so bad, how come thousands are in this business and even more waiting in queue. It is because there is lots of money in this business.

South Goa tourist taxi operators opposed government’s move to install meters on their vehicles, flaunt permit laws, fleece tourists, threaten other stake holders, when will the government try to curb their activities, will it be when there is a casuality? (ENDS)
