Dear Goanet readers.

I have had a lot of feedback/inquiries after my above post.

The main points i want to highlight is-- If you obtain a foreign Passport, you have to surrender your Indian passport as India Does not allow Dual Nationality unlike a lot of Other countries.

That means, you have to surrender your Indian Passport. It does not matter if you do it late. BUT MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT TRAVEL ON INDIAN PASSPORT AFTER YOU OBTAIN A FOREIN PASSPORT BECAUSE THEY WILL FINE YOU AT THE TIME OF SURRENDERING YOUR PASSPORT, DEPENDING HOW MANY TIME YOU USED IT TO TRAVEL TO INDIA.

i know that some people have been using their foreign pasport to travel only outside India and then use Indian passport to travel to India.

You have nothing to gain by keeping the Indian passport once you obtain Foreign passport as you will still have yur basic privilages as person of Indian Origin. OCI is simple and easy and not complicated as portrayed and the Indian govt is encouraging it as they will make tonnes of money out . of it.

YOU HAVE NO TRAVEL RESTRICTION IF YOU HAVE FIVE YEAR MULTIPLE VISA AS IT IS GIVEN AS LONG TERM BASIS TO PESON OF INDIAN ORIGIN.I HAVE CONFIRMRD IT FROM THE EMBASSY MYSELF.

THOSE WHO HAVE LOST THEIR INDIAN PASSPORT, THEY CAN FILE AN AFFIDAVIT WITH NOTORY AND PRESENT TO THE HIGH COMMISSSION. THEY CAN PRESENT THE PHOTOCOPY OF THEIR OLD PASSPORT IF THEY HAVE.OTHER DOCUMENTS LIKE THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE FROM INDIA AND SCHOOL LEAVING CERTIFICATE CAN BE PROVIDED AS PROOF OF INDIAN ORIGIN.
