Nobody is currently* as ambitious as "Manoharbhai". A close second is probably a Vishwajeet. The Churchills and Monserrats are, at best, puppets who can be aptly made to play someone else's game. They are of the use-and-discard variety. Digubab holds the post by accident, as did a Rane (Senior), who however stayed on far longer than anyone expected.
And while you guys speculate (smartly?) about Manoharbhai taking on Vishwajeet in his lair, the political grapevine has it that crafted a safe constituency, during the past delimitations, in nearby Porvorim itself. (With that, would it mean that Oscar may not be worth targetting anymore?) Wonder why the constituency of Mapusa was never seen as an option. Any guesses? I know you guys are smarter then to pretend you don't see... FN -- * Currently, in this case, means since the early 'nineties, when a power-at-any-price policy was the name of the game.
