The 2000 strong CISF force proposed by CM is not for industry. It is a
clever disguise to suppress the anti-mining agitations and harass the
anti-mining lobby, feels a section of the more conscious people of Goa.
Comments:
The government of Goa has tried to tag the anti-mining agitators as
'Naxalites' already, and would have succeeded in this game plan to
eliminate whatever resistance is put up against the indiscriminate mining
operations, both legal and illegal, if it was not Sebastian Rodrigues of the
Goa Su-Raj Party who was to be tagged as Naxalite and eliminated, thanks to
the BJP's Manohar Parrikar for this.
Now that the anti-mining lobby is gaining over the deeds of omission and
commission of the government and the colluding mining lobby, as also due to
the recent Open Petition to the Union Environment Minister by the
environment lovers of Goa, and the world over, the Kamat Government in
connivance with the mining lobby, both Goa and Central, wants to
straight-jacket the anti-mining agitations and agitators in Goa through a
show of force in CISF.
Will this tactic work?? is a million dollar question.
We feel that Goans are made of stronger stuff - a la Naxalites and Maoists
than any borrowed CISF force, to take and example of the 'expose' by
Arundhati Roy in the latest Outlook Magazine.
Soter D'Souza has done a great service to the internet Goans by drawing
their attention to this exclusive 'article' captioned 'Walking with the
Comrades.
In my reading of this article which gives the world the understanding of
what is to defend one's rights to one's land , forests and the way of life,
central government or no Central government, is the inability of the
powers-that-be to instill into these people called Naxals and Maoists the
sense and taste of GREED. If this mission becomes successful, then there
will be no more Naxals and no more Maoists to fight with, because they would
have been neutralized, bottled and capped. But my strong feeling is that
the powers-that-be are not going to succeed and the Naxals and Maoists are
going to be vindicated in their firm stand to expose the government who are
financed and plodded by the corporate money and muscle power.
In Goa's context, the component of 'greed' has, if we are not wrong,
corrupted 80% of Goa's population and it seems a difficult task for the
anti-powers-that-be brigade to succeed. However the 20% is good enough if it
is to have faith in the ability of Goans to fight for a cause dear to their
hearts. As said many a times let this 'slogan' ring in every sensitive
anti-mining ear in Goa to re-enforce their resolve to fight the mining
lobby tooth and nail so that their dear Goa is not allowed to be eaten up
raw and alive.
THE MINERAL WEALTH OF GOA IS A GIFT OF GOD TO GOA AND GOANS. IF ITS
EXPLOITATION DOES NOT BENEFIT GOA AND GOANS, LET IT LIE WHERE IT IS
UNDISTURBED AND UNTOUCHED WHETHER THE GOA GOVERNMENT OR, FOR THAT MATTER,
THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT LIKES IT OR NOT.
Long live the Naxals and the Maoists of GOA and let their rank and file grow
and multiply.
