Folks,
As Obamacare is passed into law south of the border, it seems the Canadian
Govt is moving in the opposite direction. Here are two items that may be of
interest:
1) After four years in the courts, the Supreme Court has agreed to the "First
Nations People" claim that since their traditional doctors provide a service in
areas where no other doctors practise, they are entitled to receive payment
for services provided. Interestingly, the "traditional healers" claimed that
they
a) Practised defensive medicine and
b) treated people with pre-existing conditions
2) The second announcement, from the current conservative govt, is that in
order to reduce costs, terminal illness would only be treated for six weeks.
The govt is providing data showing that it could cut the medical budget by
30% AND reduce taxes if did not have to provide a hospital bed for certain
cases.
