So true. I mean, holding out for hope and wanting to save Goa (you must have a lot of spare time and not too many ambitions of ones own) is a dead end.........(this may sound like a rant to some...you should get out more often).
I took a trip ( in the choris-pau business, one has to travel a bit) to Mollem by a Karnataka ST bus: from Tiska to Mollem, there was a traffic jam in the jungle about 5 kms long of trucks carrying ore and so much dust one could not breath. Something ain't right. I got off the bus and took the Sancolda exit and spent time in lovely Tambdi Surla, some breathing space and quiet. Long story short, everything is going wrong in Goa it seems, right from the mining to the naked construction boom to everyday living. Its impossible to continue and to complain is pointless. Who will listen and if they listen, what would they want to do? In Sancolda, there is a dump (of mining residue) which is soo high, one fears a 'strange weather' rainfall could bring it sliding down. A frightening prospect. But never mind that. As for everyday life, do pop by your local Town planning or the PWD office in your spare time.........aye, its all monkey business at its best. Anyone gotta be joking if this place did not need a dictator to rule. Imagine the visual of the former referee's son from Varca in dictators finery? There is so much crookery around, its would put some improvised African nations to shame. Democracy ain't for this place. Ain't folks a little self-conscious about the birthday greetings in newspapers, for example. On the 17th, a moontri pictures were all over a certain newspaper and billboards across Murmagao boldly announcing 'our dynamic leader'. Does this person have no shame? And to put pictures of the wife and children, all dressed in loot? Sickening state of affairs. Crookery and bullying has reached such a level around Goa, I heard of a priest in Vasco now intervenes on behalf of victims. Poor man was beaten up by a politician a while ago. On the brighter side, there is good life not far away....a few kms north (Sawantwadi) or a few kms south (karwar)..the fields are green, where agriculture is alive and well, where life...life as it should be. ================================================================== Nuttin will happen for the good of Goa if Goans do not challenge the current regime imposed upon Goans since 61. Petitions will only have superficial effects. BC THE LAST WEEK OF THE CHALLENGE FOR A 1000 SIGNATURES Dear fellow goans I am beginning to get a very clear picture and a strong message from you. It is becoming obvious that the majority of Goanetters don't really care if Goa gets totally wiped out by the mining industry. That is the only conclusion given the response so far to the petition.
