El transporte de mi mama, an exhibition exploring the art of Pinhole
photography, will be on display at the Art chamber from April 25 - May09, 2010.
Organized by the Goa Center for Alternative Photography (Goa-CAP), this first
Goa International Pinhole Photography exhibition is based on the recent
international contest organized by Goa-CAP in order to support, promote and
celebrate the art of pinhole photography in India and to honor The Worldwide
Pinhole Photography Day, April 25, 2010. The exhibition features the work of
191 artists from 41 countries right from USA to Uruguay.
Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day, April 25, 2010 is an international event
created to promote and celebrate the art of pinhole photography. On this day
pinhole enthusiasts all over the world take some time off from the increasingly
technological world we live in, to participate in the simple act of making a
pinhole photograph and to share their visions and help spread the unusual
beauty of this historical photographic process.
The exhibition was inaugurated by His Excellencies Fernando Luis Ras
Consul General of Argentine Republic at 1900 hrs at the Art Chamber, Calangute.
The exhibition features 41 photographs from different countries that have been
experimented with various handmade cameras and alternative processes. These
Pinhole photographs are taken without any lens but simply through a small hole
, about the size of the pin. The cameras used to capture these photos
are made from ordinary stuff such as shoeboxes, peeled tomato cans or tea boxes.
These images have been juried by an eminent Jury panel comprising of some of
the internationally acclaimed pinhole and alternative photographers namely Ms.
Mieko Tadokoro, Chairman of Japan Pinhole Photographic Society (JPPS), Mr.
Gregg D. Kemp, Founding member Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day (WPPD) and
Founder of Pinhole Visions web site, Mr. Byron James Bignell, founder of
Pinhole Gallery, a gallery of Contemporary Pinhole Photography and Ms. Keliy
Anderson-Staley, Workshop Coordinator, The Center for Alternative Photography.
