Rajesh Dessai obviously did not get the point of my response to Godfrey's article. I am not about to educate Rajesh but just let it be said that if I had decided on a 'tit for tat' response Godfrey and the East Indians would be laughing stock for a long time. But what would that achieve?
Many of the points Godfrey raised are very valid. I did not shoot the messenger. I questioned his credentials to criticise and his methods. Rajesh goes further to say "I have just one question to ask Cecil: What have you done to save Goa?" Interesting question. I agree that I haven't done much to save Goa. But I live a pretty 'open' life and speak my mind when required against forces that are determined to destroy various aspects of our Goa. Most everyone knows who I am, where I come from, and what I am about. But agreed there's precious little that I actually do to save Goa. Now your turn Rajesh, since you asked the question. Who are you, and what have you done to save Goa? Cheers! Cecil P.S. Although Floriano Lobo too has been critical of my response I have not questioned him because despite all his flaws Floriano actually walks the talk and fights the good fight. Who says something is, to me, as important as what he says. ============= Rajesh Dessai wrote: I am very surprised by the attitude shown by this man Cecil. Godfrey has written well, and has written the truth. They say 'truth sometimes hurts' and I just wonder where the jab hit Cecil. Never mind that Godfrey does not live in Goa. He has hit the nail on the head and in his unique humorous style of easy writing, he has spoken what is on the lips of many Goans who are hurting, seeing what is happening to our State. By writing the article, Godfrey has highlighted facts, and thrown a challenge to us Goans. Godfrey has not stepped out to solve the problems of Goa. Instead, he has challenged the likes of Cecil to walk the walk instead of doing criticism for the sake of criticism, or for the sake of covering up guilt [if any]. We have to look at the message in perspective, and if we are genuine Goans, we have to step up and do something. Tit for tat is not the answer. I have just one question to ask Cecil: What have you done to save Goa? If you cannot do it yourself, then the next best thing is to create an awareness and help others do it. Godfrey was the messenger who Cecil shot. But he missed!!! Good wishes. Raj Rajesh Dessai
