The latest news is that Cuncolim is on the boil once again. A permission granted for a residential project to one Dubai based Tariq Chauhan of Dharul Khalil, Aligarh U.P. by the Cuncolim Municipal Council is now suspected by villagers to be more of a madrasa with the toilet specifications itself being as big as a bedroom. Several violations have been observed. When residents spoke to the said Chauhan in Dubai over phone, he challenged them to do whatever they want as he has the full support of Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and Urban development Minister Joaquim Alemao. What fuelled even more anger is the realisation that the project has been designed by a firm Mozaiq-Archnova which people allege to be that of Arch. Dean D'Cruz and is signed by one arch. Poonam Verma all of Goa Bachao fame. Coincidentally, Dean D'Cruz is also involved in designing the market project at Cuncolim for SUDHA. The Cuncolkars are now gearing up for a show down.
