A report
There were approx a hundred people gathered at Blue Berry, Verna, mostly
village groups who are fighting filling of agricultural fields, sewage
spilling into fields, mega projects, mining and its woes etc. etc. Prominent
among those present were Dr. Wilfred Mesquita, Fr. Eremito Rebello, Fr.
Bismarque Dias, Edwin & Diana Pinto, Judith Almeida, Laurie Abranches, John
Philip Pereira and his wife Olinda, young Neri Fernandes, not forgetting
Prince Jacob and many more.
After a while of various addresses and even a song dedicated to Goa sung,
the crowd tracked it out to the Secretariat at Porvorim to hand a memorandum
of demands (as posted earlier) to the Chief Minister, especially as today
was the day of CM listening to the grievances of the people at his office at
the secretariat.
Permission was refused for the people to see and submit the memorandum to
the CM and the police bandobost was quickly arranged. After much arguments
with the police (Inspector Devendra Gad) a five member delegation of women
were allowed to see the CM. The purpose of this delegation was to request
the CM to come out and meet/address the people at the front gate of the
Minister's complex. It is believed that the CM was rude to the women
delegation even to the extent of telling them that he does not need their
votes when told that he has been elected by the people - when he refused
point blank to meet and hear the grievances of the people. "I will not see
the rowdy people - You can do what you want" is believed to be his answer to
the delegation.
There were bad scene of scuffles between the police and the people when
police forced the people to disperse. Diana Pinto suffered a minor head
injury when she was pushed by the inspector of police Mr. Gad to load her
into the police bus to be transported to the Porvorim Police station. Also
inspector Gad had a scuffle with Olinda Pereira trying to pull her into the
police bus with Olinda's blouse having been torn and in the bargain Olinda
de-commissioning the inspector of both his shoulder stripes and chain in one
jerk.
At the police station, the leader of the opposition ( who was summoned by
the agitators) along with a delegation of the agitators saw the SP (North)
Mr. Arwind Gawas. Later the agitators were allowed to go after signing
personal bonds, much after 3 p.m.
The entire episode at the secretariat and the police station was very well
covered by the electronic media and the detailed footage is presently
running on all the local channels at this very moment, especially the INGOA
channel.
The PPS was much promoted from Verna to Porvorim and the agitators have
realized that PPS is perhaps the right forum to get under to cleanse the
dirty politics of money and disregard to the environment, ecology and sanity
of Goa by the perverted politicians of the day.
Yours sincerely, in his address to the crowd at Verna related the unity
story of the Battle at Kruger which Dr. Ferdinand dos Reis Falcao was kind
enough to make available. The story as well as its context was well
appreciated by one and all present.

GOA urgently needs 'GOOD, HONEST, DISCIPLINED SYSTEM of GOVERNANCE'.
Wherein, even a dishonest person is forced to be good, honest n disciplined,
or to QUIT.
Only through PPS can such 'good, honest n disciplined system of governance'
be identified and accepted.
