Godfrey Pereira's letter about Bleddy Goans may be hard hitting but surely was not anti Goan. In fact in his humorous way he has tried to make Goans aware (not that they are not) and to be awake and be more active rather than being silent spectators. Maybe the fault in the article, if there was one was it looked like it was East Indian versus Goan though the intention never was. It is an eye opener. The need of the hour is unity of all Goans and non Goans. After all we are fighting for a common good cause. If there is no unity then we are doomed. Given below is the video clip taken from the site : www.goanvoice.org.uk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km-B_kRBFjk&feature=uploademail which shows how Goans are fighting with mighty forces which are against with. These ministers and MLAs are the same people who Goans have elected to represent. Unfortunately they have turned against us and bettering their own prospects. The need of the hour is all coming together and being united. Thank you so much for keeping me in the loop Will keep in touch. It's Spring Time here in The States. I can't wait till I come back to Goa. It will happen soon. Hope that you are doing fine. Hello to your family. Vaya Con Dios my friend Peace Godfrey Pereira _____________________________________________________ Whoever this guy Eugene Correia is, he does radiate some good light. Hello Eugene, Peace from The Jersey Shore.. Once again I would like to stress, this artcle was not an anti Goan piece. It was a gut scream that hoped to wake up somebody, anybody, hopefully The Goans, to the pain I felt. I do not have any problem, with Goan mothers because their sons work in The Gulf and Canada. What I was trying to say is despite the cash flow that some or many Goan mothers receive, being silent, and being being apathetic is not an option for the Goan WOMAN right now. Women are STRONG. They can influence their men. They can literally turn things around. Perhaps I could have explained it better. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa. And, I don't need to leave Jersey and New York to help "my" East Indian Community. What I have done to help in that fight, I know, so we will let that go for now. I do not see myself as an East Indian to begin with... but when I see a place like Goa being raped... I cannot be silent and run to America. That is why I wrote what I wrote. How can you stay silent when you see a sign saying "Indians Not Allowed" in Goa. How? Where were the Indian voices, THE GOAN VOICES, when these signs were put up. Where? You can criticize me all you want, at least I cried out aloud, in pain and anger and shame, when I seen this injustice. I could have walked away... I am not a Goan, hell I am not even an Indian Citizen, but my heart beat is Indian and many, many parts of my consciousness lie strewn all over Goa, that's why...I am what I am. If you want to shoot the messanger, go ahead, shoot me but after that, you had better stand up and do something about your silence. My anger and frustration is better than the collective silence that I was hearing. The Goan sound of silence here, my friend is a terrifying state of fatal lethargy. And lastly, Yes I am aware of some of the campaigns that have been run. The proof my friend is in the pudding. And right now, from human feces and urine in the Mandovi river to openly corrupt politicians and police and miners and foreign drug runners, the Goan Pudding is looking like Bibic, left out in the sun too long, the scavengers are moving in. And The Goans are watching this tragedy with a funeral like silence that is frightening. If you do not have a problem with that, then my friend, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
