To: [email protected] It was a dull hot summers day on 12th May when we set out early to go for a picnic to Galgibagh with our friend Marshal and his beautiful wife Lydia. We set off about half past eight and Marshal took off very eager to get to our destination the scenery was beautiful the farmers of Cuncolim getting their fields ready then we kept winding up and down the hills on our way to Galgibagh .Marshal was driving pretty fast but through the thick forest of Bali we could see ahead hill cutting .The mood was upbeat hence did not want to dampen it with anything but happy thoughts about our day ahead. We reached Talpona and were rejuvenated at the site of the water Marshal decided by now it was time to slow down and we began to take in the beauty of this area on one side the hills and the river joined by the Arabian sea a truly breath taking sight ! As we reached the mouth of the river we were shocked to see the Grand Intercontinental literally spilling on the beach on one side and the river on the other surely not even 300 meters from the water Perhaps this area does not get affected by CRZ like us mortals do !!! We tried putting this behind us as we turned the corner to Galgibagh what a beautiful beach as you can see from the pictures uploaded after a good swim a cold cool drink and lots to eat with a game of foot ball thrown in for good measure we packed to return home . The kids had heard of the shoot of Gol Mal 3 so we made our way to the site which turned out to be just outside of the Grand intercontinental the road enroute to the Grand saw us shocked as there was massive land filling in the paddy fields see pictures up loaded .a bit ahead a the turn of the road to the Grand inter there was hill cutting as well . We then entered a road which was part of the Grand intercontinental what seemed like public access to the beach enroute we saw landscaped gardens and the golf course on either side we also noticed massive excavation of sand inside the premises of the hotel perhaps this is ok and fine I am not sure as it is towards tourism and development! We then found our way to the beach where we were stopped by security we did manage a few pictures of the Gol Mal set incl a structure which is part of the hotel being its shack looked pretty permanent from the picture to me . We stopped off for a quick tea before we drove via Agonda we noticed hill cutting by the road hear as well .We stopped at Cabe de ram fort what a beautiful structure lying in such shambles while we talk of developing new things our old treasures lie in ruin a few years down and one can be sure that all being constructed today as well will see the same fate perhaps worse as I doubt it will stand the test of time as that of the Fort or the other treasures of old. We then stopped off feeling really hungry at Betul see a beautiful sun set and enjoy our picnic snack. Truly a day well spent and lot learnt by our children as well as us.
