Besides in 20 years I am ready for the victory, I am already practising eating paan imported from Taiwan, and wearing a lungi to keep up with the trend for the better days to come.
BC Dear Bernardo, First of all thank you for reading my column so faithfully every week :-) Secondly, I never thought I would agree with you but I do. We have traded in one form of colonisation for another. Unfortunately, India had no desire nor the vision to cultivate a fine dominion as Goa when the Portuguese left in 1961. That the Portuguese themselves did not prepare us for democracy is what betrayed us the most in the end. But I am an optimistic. We will survive and we will emerge victorious in another 20 years or so. Best, selma
