Dear FN,
In my opinion the cyberworld is the worst form of communication perpertrated
onto man and robs us completely of our humanity. It is so devoid of feeling,
tactile contact, erased of human gestures and warmth that discussions on
cyberforums are not discussions that reflect the true nature of individuals but
rather portray us in our worst light. We take affront at the least offence,
perceiving that offence to have taken place in a public arena, which sets in
motion a series of counter-emails that do not debate the point at all but is an
attempt to preserve our dignity in a very undignified manner.

In the years that I have been part of cyber communication, I have never seen
two individuals move from the point that they were originally making and
embrace another point of view, thus rendering the discussion redundant. I
hasten to add, that this is more particular in the male of our species. I have
been on women oriented forums which operate on an entirely different level.
There is something about the male species which seeks to quarrel endlessly.

Of late I have become very disillusioned with the Goan male species. I see him
as an entirely unevolved specimen of humanity (sorry if I'm doing a Richard F.
Burton here), who feels the incessant need to puff his flagging ego on
cyber-forums. I think generally George and Eddie are an exception to that rule
and I would prefer it if some fragment of hope was salvaged to reassure me that
the Goan male is capable of evolution.

Best,
selma
