Goa Bench of the Bombay High court will hear on Thursday the anticipatory bail
petitions filed by former Tourism Minister Fransisco Pacheco and his aide
Lyndon Monteiro in the Nadia Torrado death case, their lawyer said on
Wednesday.

"The court will hear the anticipatory bail petitions filed by Pacheco and
Monteiro tomorrow at 10.30 am," advocate Amit Palekar told PTI.

Both are wanted by Crime Branch in connection with the death of Torrado (28),
Pacheco's "close friend" who died allegedly after consuming rat poison last
month.

Monteiro had earlier withdrawn the anticipatory bail plea when prosecution
pointed out that the petition filed by his mother on his behalf does not stand
in the court. He then filed a fresh bail petition through his lawyer.

Pacheco, who resigned on June 5 in wake of allegations about his involvement in
Torrado's death, moved the High Court contending that he was being framed in
the case because he had expressed concern over drug trade in Goa and demanded
inquiry into alleged role of a senior politician's son in it.

Earlier this month, the Sessions Court in Margao had rejected the anticipatory
bail pleas of both. Crime Branch had told the court that Pacheco had abetted
the alleged suicide by Torrado, while Monteiro helped him destroy the evidence.

Both are missing since June 6.
